The following has been written for the convenience of my patients. If you have NOT had retina surgery performed on you by me, these are not your instructions. Your own doctor should be consulted.
Drops – There are 2 different drops
1. Antibiotic Drop – usually a tan colored top
2. Prednisolone Acetate 1% – usually white or pink colored top
Directions for Using the Drops
•Use one drop of each 4x per day (e.g. breakfast, lunch, dinner, bedtime).
•Use in any order, but wait 1-2 minutes before applying the second drop. This way, the first drop won’t be washed out.
•When the the antibiotic drop is finished – throw away.
•Continue the Prednisolone Acetate 1% (white or pink top) until Dr. Wong recommends stopping it. You may be using this more than one month!
What About Pain Medication?
• In almost every case, I simply recommend ibuprofen (e.g. Advil) or Tylenol (e.g. acetaminophen) for pain.
• I really do not expect there to be much pain at all. Most discomfort after surgery is actually from the eye patch!
