On the first visit following the operation, several things will occur;
Patch Removed – The eye patch placed on the operative eye will be removed. In general, the eye affords some level of comfort as long as the eyelid underneath is closed. You will go home without a patch.
Eye Evaluated – A post-operative exam will be performed looking for any signs of infection, unusual eye pressure and retinal detachment.
Drops/Meds – Instructions for your drops will be reviewed. Most likely only acetominophen (e.g. Tylenol) or ibuprofen (e.g. Advil) is necessary for any discomfort.
Follow-up Appointment – Usually scheduled within the next 1-2 weeks.
